The late 1700s... Selected as a special beylik and accepted into the Ottoman Palace, the Taşköprülü Müftügiller family – who would later take the surname ‘Erol’ under the surname law – began working in various positions within the palace. The Taşköprülüs were generally employed in the palace's confectionery departments, such as the helvahane, şekerhane, and tatlıhane, which enabled them to gain substantial experience in confectionery. This experience greatly emboldened Mehmet Efendi of the Müftügiller family. With this courage, Mehmet Efendi embarked on an adventure that would rival his palace experience. He arrived in Istanbul in 1807 and opened a confectionery shop in Eminönü. From then on, he would practise his craft in his own shop. That is, until the great Istanbul fire after the First World War, when many shop owners locked their doors and left for their hometowns, never to return. Mehmet Efendi also lost his shop in the great fire and was forced to return to his ancestral lands with his son and grandchildren. Cafer Erol, Mehmet Efendi's grandson, who was as bold and adventurous as his grandfather, knew that he would return one day when he left Istanbul.

By 1935, Cafer Erol, following in his grandfather's footsteps, opened a sweet shop in Eminönü. Cafer Erol's return to Istanbul marked the beginning of a new adventure for the family. After Eminönü, shops were subsequently opened in Beyoğlu and Kadıköy. Back to Istanbul and three shops... This point signalled victory. Like any victory, this one came after a fierce struggle. Cafer Erol, who had single-handedly run the three shops with great dedication for years, will continue his struggle with a single shop in Kadıköy from 1945 onwards. By 1965, Cafer Erol's children had grown up and were old enough to help their father. Nurtekin Erol also began working, assisting his father. Nurtekin Erol, who is still at the helm of the business today, was joined by his children in 1992. In this journey, Cafer Erol's story will be rewritten. By today's generation, who uphold the values of the previous generation...

Since 1992, two generations have been working together at Cafer Erol. The youngest generation is Hakan Erol. Hakan Erol, who values experience, says that working together as father and son is challenging, creative and enjoyable. He does not abandon traditional methods, nor does he reject innovation. Father Nurtekin Erol's loyalty to his brand and its history does not easily allow for change. Nurtekin Erol approaches the new cautiously and does not like to rush. Hakan Erol, on the other hand, moves to implementation as soon as he makes a decision. The different approaches to change and transformation of two people from two different generations and the disagreements arising from these differences are quite understandable. It is very valuable that they are two friends who try to understand each other within these differences. It is a process that triggers creativity and produces results that both sides will gladly accept. As always, the brand Cafer Erol benefits from this process. This is because the energy that comes from their differences is transformed into creativity, reflecting a balanced harmony between yesterday and today for the brand.
